MPAA: Rated PG-13 for sequences of intense action and violence.

I walked into this movie fully aware of the inconsistencies the movie presented such as woolly mammoth’s helping to build the pyramids and all the other nonsensical history this movie tries to pass off as believable. I sometimes enjoy really bad movies especially if they have half way decent CGI and acting. I was not prepared for how boring, confusing and uninspiring 10,000 B.C. was going to be and it really messed with my head. The movie stars that gorgeous young actor Steven Strait who I greatly admired as the tall dark and handsome loner in the cute family/teen film Sky High, unfortunately that’s where the compliments end and the insults begin.

Steven has to be one of the most transparent non-dimensional actors I’ve ever seen Hollywood try to push since Antonio Sabato Jr.  He’s tall , dark, and handsomely mysterious looking, yet he disappears right before your eyes as your watching him on screen.

This is exactly what happened when I was home bored a few months ago at my apartment in NYC and I decided to order his other movie disaster The Covenant from pay per view since that was literally the only movie on pay per view I hadn’t seen already. I struggled to make it through that movie also and again Steven Strait vanished before my eyes as I forced myself to get my money’s worth from that movie. My final opinion was that he is weak, boring and looks painfully lost in this movie.

The inconsistent accents, fake looking wig dreaded hair, bad CGI,  sci-fi  B movie style of acting, were all of the lowest quality and talent. I think Roland Emmerich thought he was going to strike gold again with a awfully conceived storyline,  D-list young actors, and bootleg style CGI like he did with Independence Day. The saber tooth tiger looked better in Ice Age than it does on this movie, and for all those who may not know this but Ice Age is a cartoon. Where did all of this money go for this movie? Why did the weird 80’s looking warlord barbarian speak with an amplified voice dub?  His name is Ben Badra and he’s a french arabic actor, check out his weird looking myspace page  .Okay, Like anyone is gonna believe that a human being’s voice can actually sound like that. Unless their like 8 feet tall or something.  Here’s a great example of what I mean about the confusion this movie brings, what is so special about Ben Badra if he doesn’t even speak english and has to have his voice dubbed? They couldn’t find a local actor to play the warlord? In most cases, the villians had much more flair and personality to them than the good guys and near the end of the film I justed wanted that stupid girl and her hunk of a boyfriend  to just get squished to death by those clumsy looking woolly mammoths. Game over.

10,000 B.C.  is extravagant waste of time, money, and effort. My only hope is that the actors who worked in this movie can recover  their careers and not suffer for the movie studio’s  massive mistake in green-lighting this feature. Do yourself a favor and skip this one, is cruel and unforgiving and you will hate yourself for not listening to me!
